The Source of Biblical Authority

The authority of Scripture flows directly from its inspiration. Because the Bible is God‑breathed, it carries the full authority of God Himself.

Key Scripture

• “All scripture is given by inspiration of God…” (2 Timothy 3:16)
• “The word of the LORD endureth for ever.” (1 Peter 1:25)
• “Thy word is truth.” (John 17:17)

If God is the author, then His Word is:

• True
• Binding
• Final
• Unchanging

The authority of Scripture is not granted by the Church, tradition, councils, or culture.

It is inherent because God speaks through His Word.
